I represented Tinonee and District Red Cross Branch at Wingham Red Cross Branch’s AGM on Monday, July 10, at Wingham Services Club.
Other branches represented were Forster-Tuncurry, Mt George, together with Zone 4 representative Eugenie Williams of Taree Branch, along with Wingham branch, including their patrons Joyce Martin, Helen Walker and Lorraine McGrath, who also holds the position of branch treasurer.
All were welcomed by branch vice president Von Hobson.
After the business and election of office bearers, Eugenie was invited to pin on the office bearers’ badges before she gave an update on Red Cross activities.
It was with deep sadness we learnt of the passing of Forster branch patron Noelle White on June 2. She was a much-loved lady and will be sadly missed by all.
The lucky winner of the raffle prize was patron Helen Walker.
The AGM concluded with afternoon tea and a chance to catch up with the ladies.
Passing of Barbara Muxlow
Word was received on Thursday that our sister-in-law Barbara Muxlow, wife of Garry (husband John’s brother), late of Lemon Tree Passage passed away after a long and courageous battle with several forms of cancer.
Barbara and Garry were married at Harrington Anglican Church 45 years ago, and have two children, Scott and wife Cassie, and Leigh and Aaron Tull, who live in the Newcastle area.
Between them, they have nine grandchildren who gave much joy to Barbara.
Barbara’s funeral will be at St John’s Anglican Church, Raymond Terrace on Thursday, July 20, at 10am.
A beautiful lady, who has left us too soon, will be fondly remembered by all who knew her, including her sisters Coral Stace and family of Taree, Lynette and husband Col Wooster, Diane and husband Stuart Chaffey and brother Norm Taylor and family.
Barbara was pre-deceased by her parents and youngest brother Wayne. May you rest in peace Barbara.
Happy birthday wishes
Many happy birthday wishes go out to Jack Weekes, who celebrated another birthday on Sunday, July 15. Hope it was a good one spent with family and friends.
Correction
Just a little correction from last week’s paper regarding the 150th Tinonee Show. I had intended it as an historical note to say that the first show in the Manning was held at Tinonee 150 years ago, but sadly there hasn’t been one for many years since those very early days and there is not likely to be another with Taree and Wingham now staging their own each year.
Potholes filled
Many thanks to Midcoast Council for their quick action in filling the numerous potholes on the Tinonee to Wingham Road.
Don’t know if it was my letter to them pointing out the deplorable state of the road which is used by some many, but it couldn’t have hurt.
