Minor singles July 8
It was a nail biting finish to a great game. On the 39th end an experienced umpire was required to decide the winner between Paul Swan and Rod Trenchard. It took John (umpire) an eternity to give the match to Paul with a centimetre margin to Paul’s bowl to win 31-30. It was unfortunate that there had to be a loser as Rod held the lead by three shots on the 37th end with Paul taking out the final ends Seven times throughout the game the scores were tied and Mark the marker was in the right position throughout to witness the encounter.

Lillian the marker in the game between Stan Burnell-Jones and Jason Nicholson was asked many questions, however as usual she got it right. On six occasions in this game the scores were tied, however Stan finished the stronger winning the final three ends to go into the next round with a 31-24 victory.
The lead fluctuated on a number of occasions in the 36 end game between Mick Hollebone and Snow Trenchard with Mick taking the final five ends and the game 31-20.
Ian Furner cantered into the next round with a 31-12 win over Peter Kriss.
Dad’s Army July 5
Plus Seven winners: Peter Williams and Ben Wolters won the event by defeating Dallas Hammond and Dennis Rolfe.
Ian Furner, Mick Hollebone and Allan Dodd got a +3 result over Brian Williams, Steve Knott and Tim Richardson.
Peter Holden, Stan Burnell-Jones and Glenn Gilford (who cant loose a game these days) finished with a +2 against Jim Gillogly, Greg Bartlett and George Floyd.
Saturday social
The best card for the day went to Chris Kane, Ben Wolters, Graeme Mansfield and Claudia O’Donnell against Michael Clarke, Dennis Rolfe, Glen Dennes and Denise Matheson.
Jack Pie, Lorraine Rolfe and Glenn Gilford had a five shot win over Dallas Hammond, Leonie Gilford and Tim Richardson.
This Saturday
The minor singles continue and some club triples will be set down to commence. Entries are being taken for the mixed club events also.
