For more than 20 years various members of our community have been trying to initiate historical place markings around the town to assist with tourism.
As part of the Wingham Place Activation Project, the Chamber of Commerce have been able to make this dream a reality.
Following the Wingham Activation Blitz Weekend taking place on Friday June 23 to Sunday June 25, 10-14 historical markers will be implemented. There will be a mock up displayed at the Blitz Weekend.
The Chamber of Commerce report they have had a lot of expressions of interest from local businesses.
In conjunction with Manning Valley Historical Society president, Barbara Waters, the Chamber of Commerce has focused on the buildings that are already part of Wingham’s self-guided heritage walk trail.
Installation of the historical markers will be ongoing into the future so that over time more and more of these will turn up on our historical buildings.
Wingham business Well Creative have been integral in the design of the markers, which they designed some time ago.
