The club’s popular Cubby House raffle made available $500 as a donation for this cause.
President of Taree Lions, Phil Grisold, said senior physiotherapist Leigh Searles was immediately supportive of the concept.
The Queensland room at Wingham Hospital was identified as the best location for the games and puzzles and the rehabilitation team at Wingham is now identifying appropriate items to purchase.
“Although it’s not a large donation it will provide for a broad level of interest for both patients and visitors at the hospital,” Mr Grisold said.
Sonny’s enthusiasm for this idea means that not only will the games provide for social interaction and be a focus for families, they will also provide therapeutic benefit for patients.
Lion’s Club member Nathan Cooper agreed that functional activities such as games provide the opportunity to enhance fine and gross motor skills for patients.
