This week the young Tigers were at home to the Taree Panthers. With no training or games for the past fortnight it was going to be interesting to see how the boys went.
Usually fast starters the tigers were a little slow to get into the game dropped balls and silly mistakes proved costly with Taree scoring early.
The boys then clicked into gear with awesome defence from Corey Beattie, Riley Schafer and Zac Moore setting the tone for the rest of the match.
Andreas Bellenger, Brayden Turner and Kayden Buddle toiled hard while Nick Perriera made big metres.
Rhys Timmins and Nate welsh played well at dummy half and first pass while our little general Taj Rogers produced another great performance leading the boys in attack and defence leaving many a Taree player in the mud.
Final score Wingham 6 Taree 3.
Try scorers were Taj Rogers 3, Corey Beattie 2, Riley Schafer 1.
Goals one each to Rhys Timmins, Zac Moore and Nick Perriera. Wingham Pizza and Pasta man of the match was Zac Moore.
Wingham under 16s versed Port Sharks (one verses two on the ladder).
It was a cold windy day and the tigers started slow and with no enthusiasm across the field.
All we did was make mistakes and fall off tackles and let in soft try’s.
The score was 16 nil down at half time.
The break worked wonders and we built up attack with a bit of possession and tackled with some grunt and got two try’s back and brought the score to 16-12.
Then we went back to sleep and let in a soft try and too many heads dropped and we never got back into it going down 28-12 in the end.
We had some bad calls/ drop balls and missed tackles.
We’re a much better side than this and should still be able to win with our defence as we have been good all year
