The night might have been a bit chilly but it is amazing what a well prepared meal and a warm, friendly atmosphere can do to make you forget the cool weather.

Caffreys Flat dinner dance was a great success last Saturday night even though it was held on foreign territory.
The food was superlative. Congratulations to the cook! I was told it was the best meal she ever supplied for any of their dinner dances. High praise indeed.
The waitresses were polite and knew what they were doing despite the fact most of them were young. Well done, girls. That’s one entry you can put on your CV when you are looking for a job in a year or so.
The music was easy listening and gave the dancers plenty of opportunities to keep the cooler weather at bay and the prizes throughout the night seemed to be well distributed among those who attended or bought tickets. All in all those who worked so hard to put the night’s entertainment on should give themselves a hearty pat on their backs and have a grin for ear to ear as they outdid themselves despite the hurdles they had to overcome.
A little bird told me that in July the Mount George hall trust have planned a concert of country music. It may be a little chillier then but I’m sure you can all find some nice warm clothes to we and come along to support two organisations at once.
This night has been postponed from June as it would have clashed with the Bonnie Wingham celebrations and that would have been rather silly, wouldn’t it? Why clash when another date can be arranged?
The Mid North Coast Country Music Association quite often goes to local venues and puts on a program to assist a local charity and in July it is our hall’s turn again. It has been quite a while since they’ve been here so please show your appreciation for their kindness by coming along and enjoying the music, the friendship and I am sure there will be food in there somewhere.
The same little bird told me that a magic show has been booked on the day of the next billy cart derby to enhance the family fun atmosphere. The magician is known in countries overseas and has been around for quite a few years. I believe it will be family friendly event in price. Entry will be $10 per adult, $5 per child and $20 per family. I believe there may be more than one performance – in case you and your family are racing billy carts or doing something else whilst the show is on – which would be a very sensible idea. The trust members would hate people to miss such a fun activity. This weekend is getting better all the time so mark it on your calendar – the last weekend in August.
