I attended my first ever Millions Paws Walk run by the Taree RSPCA branch, at the Taree Showground from 10am through to 1pm.
I don’t own any pets these days but was asked to take a few photos for the local group and I must say I was surprised as to how many people, young and old, were there with their animals.
The organisation couldn’t have asked for a better day, it was warm, sunny and dry, making for the perfect conditions.
I caught the “tail end” of the walk around the showground ring, then it was on to have a look at what was on offer and watch some of the judging in the various categories. The winners took home goody bags with gifts from sponsors etc.
Taree Fire & Rescue Service was also on hand as was the RSPCA Community Team van which had come all the way from Sydney for the event.
The little ones were also catered for with a jumping clown’s house and a food and drink stall in operation.
Caught up with a few folk that I knew and had the camera going getting shots of dogs I had only heard about without knowing what they looked like. Many thanks to RSPCA member Sandy for her invitation to attend.
No swings yet
Council workers are still on the job of installing the new swings at Horace Dean Park. The frame is up and the box surrounds have been completed but as yet no swings or safety fall material is to be seen.
Let’s hope the weather stays kind and they can complete the task at hand very quickly.
Nepalese Day a success
Wallamba CWA Branch’s 2017 International Day on country of study Nepal, was attended by 45 members and guests including Stephen Bromhead, Member for Myall Lakes, MNC CWA group president Margaret Breust from Eungai-Stuarts Point, and guest speaker Shirley McKinlay from Gloucester.
Shirley has visited Nepal a number of times and has close connections with several Nepalese families. She gave a passionate and emotional outline of her travels and the people who have become good friends.
A lovely display of craft items from Earth, Body & Soul of Nabiac supplemented the display, and I even had a dressed farm worker doll purchased during my travels there in 1971.
The Coins for Friendship raised $95 and this will go to helping projects in Third World countries including Nepal. Congratulations to Wallamba Branch for another interesting day.
