Consultants for the Wingham Place Making Project went to Wingham High School and Wingham Public School to ask the students what they want to see for the future of Wingham.
“We had some great ideas,” said JOC Consulting’s Isobel Virgona at Wingham Public School.
“Lots about the skate park and other things that the kids really know about more than maybe the adults.”
The Wingham Public School students made 3D models to help them demonstrate their ideas.
Year five student Lucinda Kern’s idea was to install a jumping cushion at Central Park, “because it’s really fun.”
Lucinda told us she thought her idea would make more people want to go there.
“And parents won’t have to chase their kids everywhere,” she added.
Other ideas put forward by the youngsters included new ramps at the skate park as well as a climbing dome and more trees in the main street.
