I was one of the many people who took part in the Anzac services on April 25, 2017. Both the dawn service and the 10am ceremony were very well attended, by both participants and the general public.

Unfortunately, the ranks of WWII veterans are becoming thinner, however veterans, both men and women from subsequent conflicts, were out in force, as well as many people marching with loved ones’ medals on their left side.
The march itself was as good as I’ve seen, with the Wingham Pipes and Drums again leading the way.
What a wonderful display by the many school students and their teachers who took part, plus many youngsters from various local organisations.
The actual service took place in front of the Memorial Town Hall, thanks in no small way to the RSL.
The Scouts did a great job with seating, the SES were again very involved, the Ministers’ Fraternal played their part, the Kantabile choir were again outstanding, the hanging poppies took pride of place, and what about the young lad who played the trumpet? He never missed a note.
To all those who marched and the great crowd who attended, congratulations – you made one proud to be a Winghamite.
