The graveside funeral service for Mrs Neita Middlemiss was attended by a large number of family members and friends at Tinonee Cemetery, Thursday, April 20, at 11am. It was conducted by the Rev George Ball of the Free Presbyterian Church, Taree.
Eldest daughter Dianne (Mrs Richard Alley) delivered the eulogy on behalf of her sister Kaye (Mrs Jim Meehan) and her later sister Jan (Mrs Paul Dyson).
Mourners moved to the Tinonee Memorial School of Arts where they expressed their sympathy to the family at the wake which was catered for by the ladies of the hall committee. Donations in lieu of flowers were received for the work of the Australian Red Cross that Neita had been a member of for almost 80 years.
St Luke’s afternoon tea
St Luke’s Auxilliary members have begun planning for a Nautical themed Family Afternoon Tea on Monday, June 12, from 2pm until 4pm in the Church Hall, Winter Street, Tinonee.
Adults and children are welcome to attend and tickets are $10 pp or $20 for a family of four. It is early days but the committee have some great ideas. It is hoped to have a display and historical talk on the shipping that played a big part in the early days of the settlement of Tinonee and the local area.
Historical meeting night
Tomorrow evening, Thursday, April 27, Tinonee Historical Society has its monthly meeting at 7pm at the museum and all members and interested persons are most welcome to attend. Many thanks to our garden ladies, the two Helens, who have been busy bringing the gardens back to their beauty after the dry then the wet. We thank you for all your hard work.
Anzac Day Commemorations
Hope everyone was able to attend the Anzac Day services in their area yesterday.
Our nine-year-old granddaughter Keala has been in training nearly every Saturday for a Queensland schools Kokoda Youth Challenge Walk. Keala has been doing the 15 kilometre walk and could end up doing the 30 km walk on the Challenge Day, June 4, in the Mt Nebo region Qld. We hope to be able to witness her effort, all being well, but if not we are still very proud of her efforts.
Busy weekend for Mondrook
Noticed a function at the Mondrook Hall that was well attended and later a wedding at Mondrook Gardens Café during the lovely afternoon. Something not normally seen around this area was a huge gleaming black stretch limousine that transported the bridal party to the ceremony. Mondrook Hall was again busy on Sunday with a working bee in and around the building and grounds.
