Ancestry to open 26 million military records to celebrate Anzac Day

Looking back on our nation’s past, some may say it’s our convict history and commonality of crime that has brought us together as one.

However, arguably it’s the sheer bravery – and tenacity – of the courageous Aussie spirit that’s the true core of who we are.

One hundred years ago, Australian and New Zealand troops were fighting on the front in World War I. This Anzac Day, we remember the sacrifices of those brave young men and women who served, reflecting on what it means to be Australian.

To commemorate Anzac Day 2017, Ancestry is proud to provide free access to all of its historic Australian and New Zealand military records throughout the long weekend, from 12.01AM AEST, Friday April 21 until Tuesday, April 25 at 11:59PM.

With more than 26 million records being made available, now is the perfect time for Australians to dive into their family history, and bring unknown stories to light.
