Moving the show on short notice proved not to be a concern, as the total number of dogs entered numbered 388, with 87 different breeds being represented.
Exhibitors came from as far as Brisbane to the north, Canberra to the south and Gunnedah to the west. Many locals visited to watch the proceedings and do research on breeds.
“Comments from people who came to see the show were all positive,” organiser of the show, Allan Bird said.
“Some people come to dog shows to talk to breeders and to see the breeds of dogs that may suit the families.”
The Best Exhibit in Show was a bloodhound Ch. Hunterhound Excalibur (Merlin), owned by Mrs M. Ashpole from Sydney. Runner up Best in Show was a bull terrier Ch. Buldoarus Enteyising (Stella), owned by T. Wiseman from Newcastle.
Some of the local exhibitors who also did well included Sharon McGrath, Melissa Borg, Michelle Jurkow, and Jessica Bird.
The major sponsors of the show were Taree Pet Barn and Dog News Australia.
“Many thanks must go to both the Taree Show Society and the Mid North Coast Canine Club for their support, for allowing us the use of their grounds and facilities and the way they presented them for this years show,” Mr Bird said.
