The 2017 theme for Harmony Day was ‘Everybody Belongs’ and the school community got creative to make an inclusive event for everybody to participate.
Year six students created a colourful banner saying, “We all belong at Tinonee Public School”, which was hung on the school’s front fence.
Each student in the school had a ribbon that was tied on the fence once the banner was hung. Every student’s ribbon was different from the other, symbolizing differences in every single person and that they all belonged at the school regardless of backgrounds, age or gender.
“There were big smiles when they went out to tie their ribbons on,” assistant principal Joanne Elliott, adding that it was a very successful day.
