COUNCIL crews are assessing the impact of the weekend’s drenching.
Some areas recorded 150mm of rain in 24 hours as wet and windy conditions returned.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council staff members are inspecting damage across our beaches, playgrounds, reserves and roads.
Council group manager recreation and buildings Liam Bulley said there had been more loss of sand at beaches but there hadn’t really been any loss of reserve space.
“We are waiting for further flood debris to wash downstream so we can get onto Town Beach and Oxley Beach, and clean up any debris there – equally on North Haven beach,” Mr Bulley said.
The swollen Hastings River inundated Wauchope’s Rocks Ferry Reserve.
“There will be some damage and clean up there,” Mr Bulley said.
Staff members are also inspecting the condition of playgrounds.
Group manager transport and stormwater network Duncan Clarke said council crews are assessing the impact on the road network to determine a course of action and priorities in repairing any damage.
“Given the extent of the network this will take several days to complete,” he said.
