Twenty two members of the Hastings Old Holdens Car Club, and their families, arrived in style at Tinonee Historical Society’s Museum on Sunday morning.
Members came from Port Macquarie, Wauchope, King Creek, Dunbogan, Lake Cathie, Taree, North Haven and Wingham.
Historical Society president Jenny and members Ray, Pam, Jan and Lois, welcomed them.
The visitors were given a talk on the history of Tinonee and enjoyed a walk down memory lane while viewing the exhibits and artefacts in the museum.
I had the camera working and I even got to sit in a 1966 HR Premier sedan belonging to members Ted and Claire McKellar of Taree. Among the other cars was a Peter Brock Signature 1985 blue SS Torana belonging to Geoff and Kerrie of King Creek. A few Tinonee locals took the opportunity to have a look over the cars as well.
Organiser of the visit, Michael Brownlow of Wauchope, proudly showed off his red and black SLR Torana. Others included a well turned out 1969 brown and cream Brougham, a tan and cream Holden 1963 EH sedan, a couple of Kingswoods, a ute and the 1978/9 red WB Holden that was fitted out with the morning tea necessities and driven by Bailey Senior of Wauchope.
Members of the group held a quick informal meeting outlining their up coming events over the next few weeks before the car club members prepared to move off. After the visit, the members were heading along Bucketts Way to enjoy lunch at Krambach and maybe have a quick look at Nabiac before heading back home.
Rotary Dinner
Wingham Rotary Club is planning a fundraising dinner to be held at the Tinonee Memorial School of Arts Hall, Tuesday, March 7, at 6.30pm. It will be hosted by the Tinonee Memorial School of Arts Hall committee, Tinonee Historical Society and Tinonee Rural Fire Service.
The cost of the evening is $20 and seating is limited to 90 guests. I have been advised by Wingham Rotarian Ron Hindmarsh it is open to the general public, but bookings are essential through him or Pam Muxlow 6553 1055 or Jenny Cherry 6554 1245.
