In the melting heat of last Sunday, a few die hard music lovers were treated to a great double billing at the Flow Bar Old Bar when Peter Black, ‘Blackie’ from iconic Aussie punk rock band The Hard Ons and Nunchucka Superfly took to the stage in his solo persona with his French touring mate Forest Pooky.

The crowd were thrilled with some excellent songs and witty banter from the two performers as they braved the sweltering stage and delivered some lovely solo acoustic driven melodic pop and energetic folk musings.
Crowd member Rosie Smith summed up the gig perfectly, “listening to them playing was like eating comfort food”.
Blackie first met Forest when he was invited to tour France in 2015.
Forest grew up in Washington D.C. but now calls the Ardèche region in the south of France home.
They toured France together for seven weeks and a friendship ensued that lead to Forest visiting Australia this year and joining Blackie on a four week tour that includes gigs in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane Canberra and of course, Old Bar.
Forest shares a musical commonality with Blackie, including his involvement in several bands apart from his solo endeavours. He started out in The Pookies before joining pop punk trio, Sons of Buddha and is currently guitarist for Opium du Peuple and guitar/co-lead singer in Annita Babyface and the Tasty Poneys.
If you missed their performance at the Flow Bar, be sure to tune into 2BOB’s Big Backyard Friday night (February 16) from 7pm when Chuck Nuggetts is joined in studio by both Peter Black and Forest Pooky for a great big chat, heaps of laughs and some live songs, plus some tracks from their back catalogues.
