I accept the resignation and thank Ms Jenkins for her work on the committee.
I believe different members of the LRC have different views of how the committee works, but that the committee has functioned well within the Terms of Reference for the LRC, which incidentally does not have any reference to an "undertaking that we wouldn't talk about what went on in the committee".
I note Ms Jenkins believes when referring to the LRC meetings, that the LRC has not "covered anything particularly substantial in (those) discussions". A sample of the agenda for the LRC to consider includes:
- Proposed Rocky Hill Coal Mine
- Rate harmonisation between the three former council areas
- Gloucester Aged Care Facility
- Taree Aviation Business Park
- Emergency Services Levy
- The Waste Strategy
- Draft Manning Valley Local Study
- Proposed Forster Civic Precinct
- Short Term Holiday Rental Policy
- Planning and Natural Systems overview
- Merger Savings
Additionally, the LRC has had a role of interacting with the community to convey local problems and issues back to the Council. This has worked well.
I wish Ms Jenkins well in any further endeavours.
