I thank Ron for his letter and the positive comments he has made in regard to the cancelling of Anzac Day services in the Blue Mountains area of NSW.
Anzac Day services held anywhere in Australia are a solemn service to honour and pay our respect to all who wore uniform and whilst doing so swore to serve our Queen and country in protecting our great country of Australia.
It is also a time when we pay our respects to all of our fallen comrades who gave their lives so we and all others could live in peace.
May their acts of courage and love for our great country never be forgotten.
I for one will not surrender to the threat of any terrorism invasion of an organised march and remembrance of all who served and fought for this great country of ours.
I may not be able to walk very far these days but would follow our president as far as is possible for me to help him remember the name and meaning of Anzac.
Lest we forget.
John O’Keeffe
Vice president Wingham RSL Sub-branch.
