Wingham’s Maitlan Brown has produced her best result for the Melbourne Renegades in the 2016-2017 Women’s Big Bash League cricket season, starving the Melbourne Stars of runs in her bowling stint on January 1.
Finishing 0/12 off four overs, Maitlan fired in consistent 110kph yorkers and fast balls to unsettle Australian women’s Twenty20 captain Meg Lanning at the crease.
The Renegades went on to win the match by nine wickets under revised Duckworth-Lewis method conditions. Maitlan’s combination with fellow bowler Lea Tahuhu was described on the day as the catalyst for the Renegades’ victory.
The Renegades next play the Scorchers on Wednesday, January 4.
