The relining of the kitchen walls and installation of new cupboards and bench tops was made possible through the NSW State Government Community Building Partnership grants program, the fundraising efforts of the Marlee Hall and Progress Association and the volunteer labour of community members to remove the old kitchen and wall lining, complete the tiling, floor sanding and sealing, and painting of walls.
The project has improved efficiency of operations and enhanced service delivery while raising awareness of the versatility of the hall as a function venue with an excellent food handling facility equipped to cater for present and future needs of the community.
Through the efforts of volunteers, the hall has operated continuously since opening in 1922.
As a valuable local asset the community has a vested interest in its future, and work together to ensure it is maintained for the use of present and future generations with its centenary being celebrated in 2022.
The community Christmas party is on Saturday December 17 commencing 6pm. During the evening the kitchen will be officially opened.
All members and former members of the Marlee community are welcome to attend. For details and hall bookings phone 6550 5164.
