Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight Duncan Gay joined member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead to announce the specific purpose grant will see Bulga Creek Bridge and Bobin Creek Bridge upgraded and safety works carried out on Remembrance Drive which forms part of the 99 kilometre Tourist Drive 8 between Taree and Port Macquarie.
“The communities and businesses in this area have made it clear to us how important it is that local roads are upgraded and I am pleased we are able to help the MidCoast Council deliver these upgrades,” Mr Gay said.
“This region is a wonderful part of NSW and the Liberal and Nationals Government is delivering vital road infrastructure for our regional communities to make it easier to do business and easier for visitors to get there."
Mr Bromhead said completing these upgrades was vital as the region booms and more residents and tourists discover the area and make a greater use of the local road network.
“I asked the Minister to come and visit Myall Lakes, as a matter of priority, and I am thrilled he has come up here to make today’s announcement and for me to show him other council-owned roads in our region which need additional funding.
“I have been fighting for a number of years to see these projects funded and will continue to fight for further funding.”
