The brigade is the recipient of a brand new category seven tanker worth $197,000 and a “new to them” category nine Landcruiser that was previously stationed at Mitchells Island.
The two vehicles are part of a 20 year replacement program that is funded by the state government, administered by the NSW RFS Rural Firefighting Fund, with MidCoast Council responsible for maintaining the vehicles.
The Mid Coast Rural Fire District currently consists of 52 stations with 80-100 fleet vehicles in the Taree/Hastings area.
District administration face a challenge as the fleet will grow to contain approximately 200 vehicles, as their jurisdiction changes to reflect the former Great Lakes, Greater Taree and Gloucester Councils amalgamation to MidCoast Council.
