Grey skies threatened the Wingham U14 cricket side on Saturday but luckily the rain stayed away for the kids to complete a very good morning of cricket for the home side.

Wingham won the toss for their first two day fixture and sent Great Lakes Green in to bat, with the decision looking dodgy until a dubious caught behind decision broke the opening partnership of 23 runs before the second at 68 signalled a flurry of wickets for the home side.
James Creighton was the star taking his first-ever five-fa (5-32) with Lucas Payne and Blake Thompson snaring two wickets each, and Blake, Callum Owen and Nathan Gutterson as ‘keeper taking good catches for their side.
With an hour then to bat, Blake and James went in to not allow the Great Lakes side to take a wicket ending the day on 21 and 18 not out respectively to be 0-48 and be in a good position for next week.
Special thanks to Gary “I’m-a-legend” Creighton for umpiring in the rain for so long, as well to Louise Smith for scoring and all the kids for playing good cricket.
