Keegan, 14 will now train in Newcastle at least twice a week and play a weekend game throughout the next soccer season playing in the 2017 NPL Youth Competition.
The year eight goalie began his football career in Tinonee in the under six team and went on to play for Wingham and the Taree Wildcats before joining the Football Mid North Coast rep squad at aged 12.
Keegan has recently returned from playing the national FFA Youth championships in Coffs Harbour were he played for the Northern NSW Metro Squad under 14s.
It’s not the first time Keegan’s sporting skills have made headlines.
At aged 11 he represented Manning Futsal at the Australian championships played in Sydney and in 2014 he went to Malaysia with an Australian under 11 futsal squad.
Now Keegan’s skills on the soccer field has seen him skip a step in his progression up the football ladder.
“You’d normally be on the NSW country squad first,” said mum Sonia who is proud of her son’s achievements.
“He’s very dedicated and trains hard” she added.
