The Eleanor McLeod Award for 2016 is given for ‘outstanding service by an affiliated club to the community’.
This award is presented annually to one of the 700 affiliated clubs in Australia.
The nominations are judged by a committee and then presented by the president of GCA, George Hoad.
George congratulated the club on its proud history of involvement in the community.
“Whilst being a small club it is certainly a very active and progressive, friendly garden club,” said president Christine Gould.
“This award will certainly be a great encouragement to many of the newer members to keep up the good work.”
Over the years some of the projects the club has been involved in were Beef Week, gardening at Wingham Court, helping Landcare landscape the Wingham Pool Area where it sloped down to the creek, the Wingham Entrance Gardens and exhibits each year at the Wingham Show.
