ASSETS is a program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who are interested in going on to further study and/or into careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Maths (STEM).
It comprises a nine day residential summer school when students have completed year 10, followed by an ongoing leadership and support program as they complete years 11 and 12.
ASSETS is funded by BHP Billiton Foundation and delivered by the CSIRO. This is open to students Australia wide and is a very competitive program to gain entry to.
“Katelyn entirely wrote her own application to the program and they were obviously very impressed,” head science teacher and deputy principal, Mary Doust said.
