Friend Betty Bird of Wingham was guest of honour at a birthday high tea organised by her daughters Janine, Gina and Annette, and son Chris, at Garden Grub Café Wingham, on Saturday, to celebrate her birthday which was on September 19. Betty was surrounded by family, CWA Friends, Wallamba Show committee ladies and Wallamba Garden Club members, several grandchildren and a great grandson. Delectable cakes, slices, biscuits and drinks were consumed before the birthday cake was brought out for Betty. Quite a few photos of Betty and her 25 guests were taken by daughter Janine and yours truly as a record for Betty to enjoy. She was wished much happiness and good wishes for the times ahead.
Book launch at Tinonee Historical Museum
The revised and reprinted Tinonee Memories book by Tinonee Historical Society will be launched on Saturday, October 1, at 1.30pm by the society’s patron Carolyn Fazio, who will be visiting from the USA. The function will be in the grounds of the Tinonee Historical Museum from 1.30pm and will be followed by afternoon tea.
Since its initial publication by the Tinonee town and parish chapter of the Manning Valley Historical Society, to coincide with the 1988 Bi-centennial celebrations, the Tinonee Memories booklet has undergone a complete facelift. It has been revised and reprinted in a more user friendly A4 size, replacing the smaller original A5 version.
The layout of 80 pages includes many more photographs that have been collected by the Tinonee Historical Society since its formation in September, 2003. This version of the book also includes an index of names and ships built in and around Tinonee, as well as a list of photographs.
Member Lois de Lange has spent many hours re-typing and inserting the photographs in the book, which has been printed by Bill Collins of Printright Taree. The end result is excellent.
If you are interested in attending please contact the museum on 6553 1571 before September 28, with your rsvp to assist members with catering arrangements.
