As in the past several years the congregation will be joined by a number of veterans, veterans’ descendants, serving servicemen and women, and families to share the remembrance of the service and sacrifice made by so many on our behalf.
Since 1918 Australian servicemen and women have served in 27 campaigns overseas in military operations on behalf of our country. Some actions have been combat. Some have been humanitarian. Some have been peacekeeping. All have carried risk and the burden of service on our behalf.
The service will be led by Rev Darrell McKeough,Wingham RSL sub-branch chaplain, with participation from veterans, dependents and descendants.
Retired Lt. Col. Eric Richardson says efforts to help the community focus on supporting younger veterans and their families who carry mental issues.
“We hope we can encourage people to be sympathetic and perhaps even pray for them” he said.
