Gynaecological cancers are the third most commonly diagnosed cancer among Australian females, claiming an estimated 1743 lives last year.
Diagnosed in 2008 with endometrial adenocarcinoma, Denise Sweeney is in a unique position to help other sufferers.
By sharing her story, “Steps to Survival”, and the positive psychological steps that helped her recovery - including self-talk, visualisation and mindfulness – Denise offers guidance and hope for women facing similar conditions.
The memoir provides an open and honest account of Denise’s personal struggle to beat this insidious disease.
As a survivor, she now aims to raise awareness of gynaecological cancers that include endometrial, fallopian tube, ovarian, cervical, vaginal and vulvar cancer. In her visit to Taree library, Denise will share her story, and talk about risk factors and symptoms associated with gynaecological cancers.
