They arrived on Friday night July 22 and left on the Sunday July 24. Young PJ, (as we call him) was turning four years on Tuesday and his dad brought him up to share it with us and he is just like his dad in so many ways. I must admit he did keep me and his great grandfather entertained for most of the weekend.
Movie night/disco party
On Saturday evening August 13 at 55 Farquhar Street Wingham (dance studio) Munro School of Dance will be holding a fundraiser. Starting time is 5.30pm until 9.30pm and cost is $10 entry. This includes popcorn, treats and a drink for the movie.
Come dressed in your brightest disco outfit, play games, enjoy our popcorn and treats AND dance the night away!!! Sausage sizzle, treats, drinks and glow products available for purchase throughout the night.
Birthdays
Celebrating their birthdays this week are Clyde Carey today being Wednesday 10th, Friday 12th Barbara Montague and to a very special lady and friend on Tuesday 16th Julie Clancy. Happy birthday to all and hope your dreams come true on your special day.
Indoor bowls
Wingham Memorial Services Club Indoor Bowls wish to inform all that there will be NO bowls on Monday August 15 and Wednesday 17 so please make sure you put these in your diary.
Soup and damper
On Saturday August 20 starting at noon the Wingham Hospital Auxiliary will be holding a soup, damper and sweets luncheon. This will be followed by a Dutch Auction.
Cost of entry is $14 per person with auction tickets extra. All money raised goes to the Wingham Hospital.

Career in podiatry
Former Wingham High School student Clare Crossingham has graduated from the University of Newcastle, Ourimbah campus with a Bachelor of Podiatry. Clare has been working as a podiatrist since January and is enjoying her chosen career. Clare is the daughter of John and Louise Crossingham of Wingham.
Flat Chat News
On Sunday August 21 starting at 10am is the biennial Wherrol Flat Auction. Items that will be up for auction include a Recon Yamaha 30h generator, small aluminous boat, farm tools, household furniture and plenty of other items.

St Joseph’s Primary
Students from the school who have been part of the Parish Sacramental Program went through Confirmation recently. Congratulations to you all! They will make their First Communion on Sunday August 14 at 8.30am.

Jeans for Genes Day: On Friday August 5 WBPS school supported Jeans for Genes Day as a fundraising for the Children’s Medical Research Institute. Students were invited to bring a gold coin and wear jeans to school along with a casual top and their school hat.

Manning Zone Athletics Carnival: The carnival will now be held on Friday August 12 at the South Street Oval, Tuncurry.
Taree Horse Sports Day: Congratulations to Dylan O’Hara, Lucinda Kern, Joseph Seddon and Lilly Eggins on representing the school at the recent Taree Horse Sports Day. Congratulations to Dylan O’Hara on winning the 12 Year Reserve Champion section.
Debating team: The WPS debating team went to Chatham Public School recently. The topic was “School Canteens Should Ban Junk Food”. WPS were on the negative team. Speakers were Logon Holden, Ashlee Vickers, Ellodi Taylor-Wilson and Amber Pereira.
WPS won, but it was a very close debate.
