ASHLEY Hinton returned for this year’s event following his victory last year and this time teamed up with his mother, Margaret and assisted by Peter Hall and again he went home with the big money.
The competition commenced at 9.30am with two games of 12 ends prior to lunch and concluded following another game of 13 ends. The winners finished with 58 points for three wins followed by Tom Moore, Col Watson and Denise Polley with 56 points.
Third position went to Peter and Elaine Holden who had with them Alana Burns coming in with 40 points. Fourth went to Dallas Hammond, Kev Coles and Cain Carmody with 39 points.
Other teams who missed out collecting money were Denise Matheson, Greg Bartlett and Robert Allan; Graeme Ireland, Paul Swan and Joanne Duncan; Rex Dawson, Glenn Gilford and Chris Willey; Jason Nicholsan, Mick Labry and Graeme Mansfield; Laurie Mullen, Jim Gillogly and Laurelle Dennes; Peter Kriss, Chris Kane and Pat Payton; Lillian Cross, Tina Rushworth and Allan Cox; Stan and Lesley Burnell-Jones with Maureen Hollebone.
Wednesday – Dad’s Army
THE best card was that of Brian Williams, Rex Thomas and Tim Richardson with a +4 against Greg Bartlett, Glenn Gilford and Jake Kennett.
Dally Hammond, Kev Coles and Cain Carmody finished with a +2 over Peter Holden, Ben Wolters and Graeme Mansfield.
Saturday Open Social
TWENTY six players entered and the results were from the cards with a drawn game on 16 shots apiece going to both teams being winners and losers.
Taking home the best prize were Denise Matheson, Kev Coles and Andy Leung followed by Dally Hammond, Leonie Gilford and Maureen Hollebone.
In a pairs game Col Watson and David O’Donnell with a result of 25-8 were too good for Glen Dennes and Daniel Leadbeater. Greg Bartlett, Claudia O’Donnell and Snow Trenchard won 22-15 against Laurie Mullen, Barry Smith and Elaine Holden. Tom Moore and Ray McNeill got up 24-19 over Chris Kane and Stan Burnell-Jones. Col Hinton, Peter Holden and Peter Tindall won by 4 shots against Graeme Ireland, Lillian Cross and Glenn Gilford.
This Saturday
The Dennes sponsored minor singles final between David O’Donnell and Ben Wolters is to be played and continuing triples championship games as well as ‘open’ social.
Entries for the mixed pairs and fours close Monday, August 8.
Annual General Meeting of Mens’ Bowls is at 11am on August 6.
