Tinonee Historical Society AGM – President Jenny Cherry gave her report to those present at the 13th AGM, at the Tinonee Museum on Saturday, July 23. After treasurer Jan Hayden’s report, the election of the executives and officer bearers resulted in no changes with the exception of patrons. This year’s patrons are Carolyn Fazio and Neita Middlemiss. Admission fees will remain the same, but from June 1, 2017, the membership fee will be increased to $15. Guest speaker Rex Nicoll spoke about his hobby of 20 years - collectables. Among the items he brought along was a Royal Doulton Jug depicting the 150th anniversary of the First Fleet’s arrival. Members are advised the next monthly meeting is on August 25, at 7pm.

Passing of Former Tinonee Resident – Vale Mrs Myra ‘Dod’ McCarthy (nee Bird), late of Taree, aged 96 years. Myra’s funeral service at St Luke’s Anglican Church on July 25, was conducted by Rev Brian Ford of Wingham Anglican Parish. Family members later gathered at the Tinonee Memorial School of Arts Hall.
Anglican Parish News – Rev Brian and 14 others were at the Soup & Soul afternoon at St. Luke’s on July 24. All are invited to the launch of Operation Christmas Child at the Baptist Centre Kolodong Road, on Saturday, August 6. For more details contact Frances Barberie of Judy Taylor. On July 30, the Soup & Damper Lunch starts at noon at the Fellowship Hall at St Matthew’s, hosted by St Matthew’s Guild. The cost is $15 including entertainment. Book and Games Fair – This is on Saturday at Tinonee Memorial School of Arts Hall. There will be drinks and morning tea available.
Tinonee Public School – Motorists must observe the Children Crossing flags and slow down to a stop if a pedestrian is on, or entering, the crossing. Failing to do so can result in the motorist receiving a fine up to $531.
Removal of swings – Locals may have noticed the swings in Horace Dean Park were removed, apparently without community consultation, by Mid Coast Council last Wednesday before 8am. This means no children’s play equipment in the area.
