Tom Moore turned in a performance worthy of a state champion let alone a Wingham winner when he and Steve Matheson overpowered Peter Hall and Peter Holden with a final score of 27-8 with three ends to conclude the match
Tom and Steve led 26-4 which indicated how dominant they had been throughout the game which was appreciated by many spectators including a Gloucester identity.
Minor Singles semis
David O’Donnell came up against Peter Kriss and on five occasions throughout the 34 end game the scores were level. Peter did take the lead on six ends and looked a probable winner until the later part of the game when David got some multiple results to take the game 32-27.
In the other semi Ben Wolters took control of the encounter in the early section against Hunter Payton who could only manage to win 11 of the 34 ends with the final score being 31-22.
Wednesday Social
The better card of the day went to Dally Hammond, George Floyd and Allan Dodd who finished with a +12 against Steve Knot, Rex Thomas and Graeme Mansfield.
Jason Nicholson was well backed up by Mick Labry and Glenn Gilford to also have a +12 and that was against Peter Holden, Any Leung and Jake Kennett.
Col Hinton, Allan Messer and Tim Richardson got a +9 over Greg Bartlett, Garry Williams and Tim as the ‘swinging’ lead.
Saturday social
Thirty players turned up to enjoy the event and all but four of them had a good day. Thee of those four were Brian Williams, Kev Coles and Glenn Gilford who tried their very best for two hours and finally on the 18th end where they were down 29 to nil did they get into the game. They had come up against Daniel Leadbeater, who could do no wrong, Jim Gillogly and the ever improving Lesley Burnell-Jones and this crew were lucky to take home the very good vouchers for the day as the draw was from the cards.
The other ‘lucky’ winners came from the loosing teams and they were Peter Hall, Leonie Gilford and Peter Tindall who had gone down to Glen Dennes, Stan Burnell-Jones and Allan Cox 25-5.
Howie Snelson, Andy Leung and Elaine Holden had a 24-14 victory against Dallas Hammond, Laurelle Dennes and Rex Thomas.
Rex Dawson,Chris Kane and Dick Connell got up 21-13 against Denise Matheson, Snow Trenchard and Peter Holden.
Greg Bartlett, Ben Wolters and Tim Richardson won 24-17 against Lill Cross, Graeme Ireland and Graeme Mansfield.
