The 13th AGM of Tinonee Historical Society is on Saturday, July 23, at 1.30pm at the museum. After the meeting enjoy afternoon tea and a catch up. It is hoped to have a guest speaker. Last weekend Jenny Cherry and Lois de Lange attended a course on our data entry system.
80th Birthday Celebrations
Tinonee and District Red Cross AGM is on Tuesday, July 26, marking the 80th anniversary of the branch. It starts at 11am, with reports presented, and the election of office bearers for the incoming year; after which there will be a guest speaker from CanAssist; followed by soup and damper.
Tinonee secretary Pam Muxlow attended the 2016 AGM of Wingham Red Cross Branch on July 11. President Donna Anderson was re-elected; secretary Anne Bennett stood down and was replaced by Noreida Fotheringham. Lorraine McGrath continues as treasurer and Von Hobson was elected vice president. Patrons of the branch are Mrs Joyce Martin, Mrs Lillian Ellis and Mrs Helen Walker. Congratulations were extended from visiting branch representatives and Red Cross Northern Region manager Janelle Cazaubon, who conducted the elections.
Tinonee Memorial School of Arts Hall
The July 11 meeting was chaired by vice president Helen Moore, in the absence of president Ray Flippence. Items discussed included planning of a Spring Fair for Saturday, August 27, in time for Father’s Day the following week. There will be stall holders and the hall committee will serve Devonshire teas and drinks.
On Saturday, July 30, the Community Hub group hosts a books and board game sale at the hall. Upper Lansdowne Players’ recent performance was a success. Thanks to supporters. The Choral Society will present their 2016 performance of Tea and Tragedy at the hall on Saturday, September 24, from 2pm. Tickets are $10 per adults, concession, children and family prices apply. It will feature the music of Rodgers and Hart, and Jerome Kern.
Wingham Anglican Parish
Sea Sunday was celebrated during services at Tinonee and Wingham churches on Sunday, when the 1.5 million seafarers around the world were remembered along with the work of the Mission to Seafarers.
The next Soup and Soul afternoon at St Luke’s Anglican Church is on Sunday, July 24, at 4pm. All are welcome. Happy birthday to congregation member Jack Weekes for July 15. We hope it was a good one Jack.
St. Matthew’s Guild ladies host a Soup and Damper Luncheon on Saturday, July 30, from noon. Contact June Yarnold or Carole Milham.
