Despite being rugged up against the cold we still felt it, but soldiered on. People were supportive of the effort and some even said we should be given the “Award for the Day” for our efforts. Hopefully the weather will be better for our garage sale from 8am until 1.30pm on Saturday. Trash and treasure, bric-a- brac, books and assorted other goods will be up for sale. Funds will be put towards the ongoing maintenance of the building and grounds.
Last Friday, the society welcomed a group from Taree on Manning Probus Club to the museum. They also looked at the outdoor Gaol Cell, the old Police Stables, the heritage garden, and Tallships Reserve before heading to the Famous Café to enjoy lunch.
Nine society members attended the monthly meeting on Thursday. They discussed the next day’s visit, the garage sale and the 13th annual general meeting on July 25, at 1.30pm. There will be a guest speaker followed by a light afternoon tea. Membership is $10 and anyone who would like to help preserve our local and district history is most welcome. The society has received funds from the federal government to upgrade our computer system.
