CAITLYN Cameron of Marlee capped off a successful 2016 Taree and District Eisteddfod on the final evening of the vocal competition held at the Manning Entertainment Centre when she was named the recipient of the Denva Bird 'Most Promising Vocalist' award.

Along with a perpetual trophy, the award carried $200 in prize money.
Earlier in the night she competed in the 20 years and under championship and placed second also winning $200.
Over two days Caitlyn competed in four sections in the 20 years and under category, gaining a first place, two seconds and a third.
For the championship she was required to sing two classical songs, 'Pur dicesti, o bocca bella' sung in Italian and the other, 'Fruhlingsglaube' sung in German and taught by Caitlyn's singing teacher, Helen Monckton.
Caitlyn's friends, Phelina Schuttke and Ida Keussen, both German exchange students, were there to support her and were impressed with her German pronunciation as was their host grandparent Noreida Fotheringham.
Caitlyn is in Year 12 at Wingham High School and, not surprisingly, is studying music for the HSC.
