Author and advocate for ovarian cancer research, Tanya has proudly supported and promoted the extensive creative talent in the Manning Valley over her two year festival ambassador term.
Born and raised in Taree and now a Sydney resident, she has not only made sure that people beyond the Manning get to hear about the vast talent in our region, but over the past two years she has also supported the local fund raising efforts of the festival organising committee.
In a recent statement Tanya said "I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have been a festival ambassador. The key pillar in building vibrant and harmonious communities is embracing our diversity. The Manning Winter Festival does just that."
The incoming 2016 - 2018 festival ambassador will be announced on the festival opening night. The Visual and Performing Arts Awards will also be announced.
Another major highlight of the evening will be the world premiere of the especially commissioned music composed by another locally born, raised, and talented high achiever, Jonathan Billingham.
The piece is entitled "From Hidden Valleys to the Open Sea."
It reflects the beauty of our Manning Valley.
Jonathan`s music will be performed by members of the Sinfonia Chamber Ensemble.
"This year`s festival program has a great mix of local artists, performers and groups at different venues across the Manning. The magic is in the new ideas and works which will be shared across the community over festival time, and beyond," said Tanya.
Programs are available at all council libraries, the Taree, Great Lakes and Gloucester visitor information centres and other outlets.
This year the festival will be supporting ovarian cancer research.
"For centuries music, songs, drama, painting, drawing, dance, writing, sculpture, fashion, architecture and design, have shaped the lives of all generations and cultures. Today we have even more diverse creative industries such as digital art. Join us in celebrating the many wonderful creative people in our region," says festival president, Mave Richardson.
Tickets for the opening night and other events can be purchased at Movies, Games and More, Victoria Street, Taree.
