About half a dozen parachutists descended on the ground from above about half an hour before play was scheduled to begin in the Anzac weekend match between the Sydney Swans and West Coast Eagles.
All landed safely except one who fell heavily after losing control in the final stages of the jump and remained motionless until help arrived.
Another parachutist motioned for medical assistance after being the first to come to the injured person's aid.
After about 15 minutes of medical attention, the person was lifted onto a medicab and driven off the ground surface as the crowd applauded.
Meanwhile, those at the ground and watching at home took to social media to post messages of support to the injured paratrooper.
