You can do all this and more at this weekend’s Artisan Expo at Mondrook near Taree.
This annual event, which raises funds for the Taree Rescue Squad and Symphony Of The Earth organisations, is three days of amazing artisans showing you how to make beautiful and functional things.
This year you can come and chat to Emmy and Oscar winner, Dr Jim Frazier. This great Aussie bloke was a cinematographer for Sir David Attenborough, invented the Frazier Lens System and has captured some of the most amazing film sequences and photographs. Jim will also have his new book, “Butterflies On My Mind” available at the Expo.
Also featured at this years Expo are Alan Williams and Geoff Davis, both of whom have created wonderful pieces for princes and presidents.
Alan will show you how he creates exquisite sculptural compartment boxes from a single, solid piece of timber and Geoff will amaze with his talent for turning leather into something you really want to wear and use.
With many more talented Artisans happy to chat and show you many tips and tricks, this Expo is ideal for students working towards their major works in wood, designs, and art.
There are even suppliers of hard to get materials and tools on hand to help out.
Thanks to Greater Taree City Council’s recent “Event Signage Policy”, there are signs to direct you to the Artisan Expo from the Purfleet roundabout and from Chrissy Gollan Park in Wingham. The event is held on the grounds of Artisans On The Hill in Mondrook, between Tinonee and Wingham.
Artisan Expo opens at 10am this Friday and runs daily until Sunday. For further information call 6553 1199.
