WEDNESDAY social: Twenty-two bowlers took to the green and following photographs, the winners became known. They were Mal Cannon, Mick Hollibone and Jake Kennett with a +15 over Rex Thomas, Tony Baker and Darryl Green.

Runners-up were Brian Williams, Col Webster and Gerry De Pyper with a +13 against Peter Williams, Dick Connell and Bob Mitchell.
In a “close–knit” family encounter Jake Hinton (following on from his triumphant triples victory) teamed up with dad Col to put it over Ashley who brought along Ray Eriksson with a scoreline of 26-15. Max Cumberland skipped his team of Dallas Hammond and Bryan Page to a good win of 27-11 against Helmut Fischer, Eric Weir and Allan Messer.
Wednesday twilight: Although numbers were down the event still went on and with the weather now improving, more players would be welcome. Last week Barry Smith, Peter Howarth and Garry Williams 14-7 won against Tony Lowman, Mark Hammond and Col McTaggart. Hunter Payton, Peter Tutty and Rod Payton just got up against Paul Swan, Rod and Snow Trenchard 13-12.
Friday jackpot: The “young-uns”, Scott Murray and Aaron Pereira came up against the mature aged pairing and Elaine and Peter Holden with the older pair, going down 15-8 and giving the event victory to the opposition. In the other game, Ron Lollback and Janet Nash just home against Peter Hall and Mick Hollibone 12-11.
In a triples encounter, Peter and Brian Williams played with Peter Tutty to just put it over Glen and Lotty Dennes playing with Mal Cannon, with the scores being 10-9.
Visit from Wallsend Travelling Bowlers: A good response from our locals ensured the visitors had some competition on Saturday afternoon and again on Sunday morning the men from Wallsend made a valiant effort to take home the shield. The point score eventually favoured our locals, 73-56.
This Saturday: Teams will be arranged from single entries for the big match between the geographical “flat” area and the “hill” portion of our town.
Mixed pairs: The draw has been made and the first round is set for Sunday, October 14.
