WINGHAM'S John Black was on the NSW RSL lawn bowls State side that won the Dr Sydney Krantz Memorial Trophy Interstate Series at Trevallyn Bowls Club, Tasmania making the team of five national champions.

The series was played at the National RSL Lawn Bowls Carnival on December 28, 29 and 30 rounding out a huge year for John.
Earlier in December he was made a life member of Wingham RSL Sub branch and had previously also been honoured with life membership of Zone 8 bowls.
"I feel very honoured," he said last week.
"We did what every NSW player does and beat Queensland," he joked of the big win in Tasmania. John's team won the title by nine shots. It is not the first win for John at national level, achieving the same dizzying heights with a team in 2013 in Cabramatta and losing by one shot in 2014.
The winning team was made up of Bruce Hardman (Coffs Harbour), Jack Abernathy (Engadine), Neville Ross (Ashfield), John Guerin (Burwood) and John Black (Wingham).
John only took up lawn bowls in 1997, playing for Wingham Bowling Club. He thoroughly enjoys the game citing the fact it is a low impact sport that anyone from the age of 10 can play.
"We go out there to have a good time and it is a lot of fun," he said.
"You get to meet a lot of different people and there is great camaraderie."
John plays bowls at least three times a week at Wingham Bowling Club. Each month he plays an RSL zone match and there are currently six players from Wingham playing regional bowls in a zone team. They play pairs, triples and fours championships.
John will be off to South Australia for the 2016 National RSL Lawn Bowls Carnival. NSW is due to have the carnival again in 2020 and John said he will definitely be there.
