Staff, a former club and district captain, missed a chunk of the pre-Christmas section of the competition with a leg injury. However, he has now decided to move to Melbourne and won't play for Wingham again this summer.
A left arm off spinner and top order batsman, Staff will be difficult to replace, a fact Wingham captain Matt Essery acknowledges.
He hopes younger players Ryan Morris and Mitch Niven will be able to fill the breach.
"But a few of the more experienced players will also have to stand up,'' he said.
Wingham can't make the T20 final and will play the last round game tomorrow. Essery said the side is short of players for a variety of reasons but will still field as strong a team as possible.
"There's still three competition points there that could be vital at the end of the season,'' he said.
Top order batsman Josh Davis is expected to return tomorrow from a rib injury and Essery said he'll fill the rest of the gaps with players from the lower grades.
"This isn't a bad way to get back into it after the break,'' Essery said of the T20 clash.
"We'll bat and bowl for 20 overs and then go home.''
