At GTCC's meeting on Wednesday, November 18, the mayor called a matter of urgent business to state he would support the position taken by Gloucester council in its meeting that morning.
Cr Hogan will take his support to the Mid North Coast Regional Organisation of Councils (MIDROC) meeting on December 4. The board of MIDROC comprises of the mayors and general managers from each of the member councils.
The motion, put up by Gloucester mayor John Rosenbaum, read as follows:
"That council write to the Premier and Minister Roberts requesting negotiations be commenced with AGL to buy back the licence for the following reasons:
- the social fabric of the Gloucester community is suffering
- mental health issues and trust.
According to the Gloucester Advocate all but one of seven councillors from Gloucester Shire Council voted to ask the NSW Government to buy back AGL's coal seam gas exploration licence.
