FORTY eight bowlers enjoyed their bowls on Saturday last to mark the occasion of the Wingham Blowling Club’s 85th year as the oldest operating licensed bowling club within the Manning District. Several Patrons and Life members attended to participate in the meal which followed the bowling activities. Bryan Betts and his wife were among the guests and he had commenced bowling in the 1950’s and was president for a lengthy period. Also attending was Gerry De Pyper, now 94 old, who until very recently was a regular ‘Dad’s Army’ player. Among the very lucky bowlers to win ‘awards’ were Allan Dodd, Brad Bell, Col and Margaret Hinton and the huge raffle went to Ray McNeil.
