Dr David Gillespie has congratulated local company Lincoln Bricks on its innovation and continuing process of renewal as part of its operation.
“The Baker family have been operating the business for many generations and employed hundreds of locals since the time they began operating in the Manning,” Dr Gillespie said.
“Against some pretty tough competition, Lincoln Brickworks has managed to carve out its place in the market through niche products and services including brick shapes and colour matching through innovative practices.
“They have also reduced their Co2 emissions by more than 67 per cent over the past five years with the installation of a new kiln and other clean technology,” Dr Gillespie said.
According to Lincoln Bricks, it is not using any valuable fuel such as natural gas or LPG (liquid petroleum gas). The bricks produced by Lincoln Brickworks use 100 per cent of waste fuel that has to eventually convert to greenhouse gases and if it can be used to produce an essential product in the form of building bricks it is no burden to the environment.
The nett and end result is that Lincoln Brickwork's contribution to greenhouse gases is close to zero.
“This a long standing local business that continues to innovate, adapting to our changing environment and for that they deserve to be congratulated.”
