This follows his second placings in the 9km event that was part of the Sydney Running Festival. The route for the event took the field across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, finishing at the Opera House.
Bailey, 18, completed the journey in 25 minutes to finish second to Queenslander Reid McCracken, whose time was 22 minutes.
However, Bailey said he was frustrated as he couldn't pick up speed when he was going down hills.
"I think there's a problem with the bearings in the wheels,'' he said.
"Hopefully I'll be able to get that sorted before my next race.''
Bailey will contest three events at the all schools - the 100, 200 and 800 metres.
While disappointed with his time, Bailey said the 9km race was a great experience, especially heading across the harbour bridge. This was also the first time he's contested the event while McCracken has had previous experence in the race.
Bailey's busy schedule will continue after the all schools. He'll return to road racing with a 15km event in Newcastle in late October before he heads to Japan in early November for a Otti International, a 21km half marathon, where he'll be looking to improve on his eighth placing from last year.
