STEPtember is a team challenge raising vital funds for children and adults who take on physical challenges every single day living with cerebral palsy.
Mikaela Worth, Tara Copp, Tarnee Reynen and coach Marg Lewis will be aiming to take 10,000 steps a day from September 2 to September 29.
As part of this they will also raise funds to go towards the Cerebral Palsy Alliance.
Mikaela, who has cerebral palsy, is looking forward to giving back to a charity that helped her so much when she was younger.
“They helped with physiotherapy, equipment and even getting ready for school,” Mikaela said.
The challenge kicked off on Wednesday with coach Marg Lewis admitting 10,000 steps isn’t as easy as you think - especially when you have work meetings.
Mikaela had made around 8700 steps at 3pm on the first day. She said although her work is mainly administration, she focused on doing more walking around the office.
To get the entire team’s steps up for the day they had planned an afternoon gym session.
The STEPtember website advises it is not just about walking your way to better health, you can run, cycle or swim – it’s about any activity that adds to your daily step count.
