Many months of preparation, and even a date change, has culminated in a day for the whole family to enjoy and remember.

A big drawcard this year is the champion Clydesdale mare, Nell, and traditional baker's cart being provided by Jackson Line Clydesdale and Performance Horses.

This is just one of many such high calibre exhibits the day attracts.

A traditional highlight of the upcoming Killabakh Day in the Country is the art show.

The event will see the historic old school house turned into a mini art gallery on September 5 with more than 45 pieces of artwork on display.

"This unique exhibition showcases the best of what you could possibly find on the lower Mid North Coast," art show organiser Louise Thomas said.

"It is an opportunity to showcase different styles and show how diverse the talent is in the Manning," added Louise.

Organisers have invited a handpicked selection of artists to exhibit their work and a few will even be demonstrating on the day. Artist Jo Ernst will be painting live portraits and all the artwork on display will be for sale.

Aside from obvious attraction of the art, visitors flock to Day in the Country each year for the wonderful food on offer. Set to the backdrop of the live sounds of the Red Cedar Band and the stunning mountain views, the lunchtime fare includes authentic Thai chicken massaman curry, mild spicy beef nachos, gourmet homemade pies and sausage rolls as well as wraps and mixed sandwiches. Crocodile snags and kransky's will be some of the delicious treats available from the barbecue. But for those with a sweeter tooth, there will be a tempting selection of yummy desserts and Devonshire teas also for sale.

More than 75 carefully selected stalls will sell an assortment of quality goods including a huge range of handmade crafts, pre-loved books, antiques, plants and award winning honey.

To tie in with Father's Day on Sunday, there will be a vintage motorcycle display with tools and old wares for sale.

This is truly one of the area's finest family friendly events with something for everyone to enjoy. There will be the children's book reading corner with Fairy Wrinkle, professional face painting and lucky dips and the young ones can even learn how to make beeswax candles.

For just a gold coin donation and a picturesque drive, Killabakh Day in the Country is a charming way to start spring.

Killabakh is just 16 kilometres north of Wingham on the Comboyne Road. It will be well signposted.
