President Charles Fisher welcomed all bowlers and informed the bowlers of the success that Zone 8 had in winning the State Fours, unfortunately not all players were in attendance but Dave Penman, Kevin Brand and skip Stan Wilson received a big hand from all bowlers, it was Zone 8's first State title for around six years, so well done bowlers.
After all the formalities were completed it was onto the greens. The usual banter was heard on both greens as was the social clinking of liquid refreshments. At the end of bowls all adjourned to the club and enjoyed a hot baked lunch.
Presentation to winners was next on the agenda with the winners being, Glen Gilford, Ian Furner, John Black and Barry Kershaw, second winners were P Minihan, B McMurtrie, T Lockley and D Deas, it was also a big welcome back to Dickie Deas who over the years was a great supporter of RSL bowls but of late has not been in the best of health so it was great to see him back.
To the greens, bar and kitchen staff we thank you and also Taree Leagues bowls organiser Dave Penman for your assistance in getting all the extra bowlers, thanks Dave.
Our next social bowls day will be the Bill Ross Memorial Day originally washed out in May but due to West Port BC having not completed renovations we have rescheduled their day to North Haven BC on August 24.
Until next time, good bowling.
