Acting Local Area Commander Peter McKenna says that the continuing tasking of police officers to the Wingham sector is a "command focus for us."
While the police station is not manned on a regular basis officers are being tasked for their shift, which might be every day or sporadic, and morning, afternoon, or night.
"There has been a significant increase in our taskings to the Wingham sector," Superintendent McKenna said.
"We've had positive feedback from the community and it has continued to drive down crime.
"We do acknowledge community concern," he said, adding that the high visibility of officers in the sector is highlighted because of those concerns.
While the increased visibility of police in Wingham is being noticed by the public, the push continues to have the Wingham station manned on a full time basis.
To address these matters, Superintendent McKenna will be attending a public meeting arranged by the Wingham Advancement Group on Monday, August 3 at the Wingham Golf Club at 5.30pm.
All members of the public wishing to be part of the conversation are welcome to attend.
